Thinking about starting your training as a counsellor in south London? Searching for a training provider that can also support you with a counselling placement? The Awareness Centre’s (TAC) new Training School could be just what you’re looking for.
TAC has opened its Training School in Clapham SW4, offering courses for people looking to begin their training as a counsellor – as well as a wide range of workshops for qualified therapists looking for continuing professional development (CPD).
The first step to becoming a counsellor is to complete a year’s foundation training – acquiring skills and theoretical knowledge, as well as practice in how to work with clients – before going on to complete the diploma training. TAC’s new courses will educate and support trainee counsellors on their entire journey towards qualification.
The TAC Foundation Certificate in Counselling will run twice in 2020 – the first course starting in January, the second in April.
Once you’ve successfully completed the Foundation Certificate in Counselling, you can go on to do the two-year TAC Diploma in Integrative Counselling, launching in September 2020. As part of the diploma course – and subject to interview and fulfilling requirements – TAC can offer you a placement working on a short-term or open-ended basis.
TAC Managing Director Michaela McCarthy says: “We’ve been offering a clinical placement for a number of years – through our NHS contracts in Lambeth and Wandsworth, and through our low-cost service from our centres in Clapham and Tooting. The placement experience helps trainee counsellors to learn ‘on the job’ and to learn and embed strong principles of good practice management. It’s the next logical step for TAC to offer Foundation and Diploma counselling training to run alongside the clinical placement. We look forward to supporting the next generation of therapeutic practitioners.”
The TAC Training School is also offering wide range of CPD workshops for qualified therapists to deepen their experience and skills.
